What does “solarising a healthcare facility” involve?

Solarising means adding a solar power system—panels, batteries, inverters, and controllers—to run lights, medical equipment, refrigerators, and computers. It can work alongside or instead of the grid to ensure reliable power.

Will my health centre be able to operate during power cuts?

Yes. With battery backup, the solar system automatically kicks in during grid outages (with negligible disruption). Critical services—like vaccine refrigerators, operating theatre lights, and sterilisation equipment—continue without interruption.

Do I need to replace existing medical equipment to switch to solar?

No. We design the solar system around your current equipment. Only the electrical supply is upgraded. We may recommend more energy-efficient appliances if you wish, but it’s not mandatory.

How much can we save on electricity bills?

Savings depend on your desired system capacity, facility’s energy use and local tariffs. Most healthcare centres see a 60%–90% reduction in monthly power costs once the solar system is in place.

What maintenance do solarised health centres require?

Basic maintenance includes cleaning panels regularly, checking battery health every 6–12 months, and inspecting the inverter/controller as needed. SELCO offers service plans to handle all routine checks.
